Roadrunners Come Up Short vs Bruins

Article By: vicktim7

A back and forth game turned on a dime with a goal line interception turning a potential tie game into a two score game as UCLA outlasted UTSA 28-21. Both teams were moving the ball, but timely defense or turnovers stalled or ended drives. UCLA worked by force bruising with their running backs and their tight end. UTSA moved the ball throughout, but a timely interception turned the tide of the game in the 4th quarter, and a second touchdown by Player of the Game Moliki Matavao gave the Bruins the cushion they'd need to hang on despite a late UTSA touchdown. The Roadrunner coach stated after the game, "I liked our fight, but we had a couple of chances to make plays or not make mistakes, and we didn't take advantage. Credit to UCLA for a solid game plan, and hopefully, we can learn from this tough loss."

Moliki Matavao, The Real Curvy Shady

Article By: jamesthecarman

Have you heard of Moliki Matavao before? Ole Grandpa to be Mathers would be afraid to tackle him, just like 3 of Road Runners on one 31 yard TD play.

He started the day off with a special game day meal: Mom's Spaghetti, with Road Runner stew.

Little known fact from Texas: Road Runners are real.

Moliki proceeded to do what a great TE does, flatten people. He had 4 pancakes, 4 receptions, 83 yards, 2 TD, and at least 4 broken tackles.

Things ended well for the Bruins, but they didn't start off great. An interception that was then converted to a TD started things off.

After shaking some dust off, the Bruins got their first lead of the season (that's longer than 20 seconds, like vs Kennesaw State in the Beefy Cup). It was back and forth for a bit.

Then with the Road Runners driving, and trying to tie the game, Bryan Addison stepped up in the red zone with an interception that he took back for 50 yards. They converted, and forced UTSA to use all their timeouts.

The Road Runners drove down for another FG, then went for an onside kick. A backup WR decided to kick the ball with the back of his heel (trying to flick it over to catch it??) and another one fell awkardly near it, but not with a solid grasp and.....it was really hard to tell (and the replay was even less convincing) but he came up with the ball. Suctioned it, like Moliki with breakfast this morning.

Great game VickTim! You've got a team that can do some damage going forward!
