The Louisville Cardinals arrived at the Gasparilla Bowl and while they enjoyed the trip came in focused and put together one of their best games of the season. Led by freshman running back Issac Brown who gained 212 yards on 30 carries in a workhorse effort. Tyler Shough complimented the ground game as he threw an efficient 14/17 for 149 and a score. Jimmy Calloway was his favorite target with 6 catches for 81 yards.
The defense was solid on the day forcing 4 interceptions and 2 sacks. M.J. Griffin nabbed 2 of those interceptions including one just before the end of the first half.
“We came in and let these kids enjoy the trip, but we also did a good job learning when the vacation ended and when it was time to represent our school the way we are supposed to. We now need to build from this for next season. I don’t like to talk about off field negotiations but we are talking about what the best decision needs to be for this program and these kids. We will have announcements regarding that decision coming soon.”
Great game and a great season Greedy!
