Iowa improves to 2-0 on the season with a 31-0 over in state rival Iowa State. It wasn't a pretty game, but the fans have grown to expect and appreciate that. The defense seemed to be taking the field inside the Cyclones 20 yard line all night, and despite 2 int by McNamara they were able to keep the Cyclones off the scoreboard. The offense was good enough, rushing 34 times for 132 yards and passing 9 for 17 and gaining 121 yards. The real difference in the game was on 3rd down. Iowa state was 1 for 8, while the Hawkeyes were 7 for 12.
Week 3 will see Iowa wrap up their out of conference schedule when they host the Arizona Wildcats, while the second game of block 2 will see the Hawkeyes open up their Big 10 schedule when they travel to Minnesota
