Game opened with a long drive in which Pitt would get four first downs but take a sack in the red zone and have to settle for a field goal. 3-0
WVU would get a first down but couldnt get any momentum and had to punt.
Pitt would get a first down and than be faced with a third and 4 to open the 2nd qtr. They couldnt get the play off in time and would take the five year delay of game which would prove critical. The new play came in and was pitiful. Teh saftey would read it and step in front of the tight end, than proceed to run 45 yards to the endzone to get the Mountaniers some momentum. 7-3
Holstein would shake it off and come out slinging. Hitting a streaking Mumpfield for 42 and finishing the drive off with a 7 yard strike to Hammond who cut infront of the backer. 10-7
WVU would put a great drive together were they would only face one 3rd down. They would strike from 4 yards out on a nice grab by the TE Davis. 14-10
Pitt would get the ball and run the 2 minute drill and get the ball into the red zone but an ill advised run on 3rd and 2 would be stopped and the Panthers would have to settle for their second field goal. 14-13.
3rd Qtr
WVU would strike in 5 plays and run it in from 4 yards out. 21-13
Holstein would put a great ball between two defenders but watch it get dropped. His next pass would be picked off giving the Mountaniers the ball and a chance to make it a two score game.
WVU would get to the Pitt 26 but throw their only pick of the game, giving the Pitt faithful some hope.
Pitt would score on a third down play from 45 yards out as the corner didnt drop deep enough on the corner route. Pitt would go for two and the tie but Holstein would make the wrong read and the pass to Kenny Johnson was dropped at the goal line thanks to tight coverage. 21-19
WVU would be facing a three and out but would convert on the deep cross and take the energy out of the fans and opponents. They would eat up the rest of the quarter and score from 7 yards out on the first play of the fourth as Taylor got behind the backer. 28-19
Pitt would strike fast and hit a 65 yard score as Williams was matched up on a linebacker and toasted him. 28-26
Pitts d was gassed and WVU took advantage converting a 13 play 4 and a half minute drive to go up 35-26 with a minute and a half to go.
Pitt would face a 4th and 6 at the WVU 29. Down two scores they elected to go for the field goal and take a chance with an onside kick. 35-29.
The kick took a solid bounce and looked like it may clear the hands team but alas it was to no avail as WVu recovered and the game was over.
Good game Ethan. The pick six did me in, best of luck the rest of the season.
