Gainesville, Florida - The Florida Gators opened conference play with a bang tonight, defeating the Aggies of Texas A&;M 45-17 in front of a raucous crowd in "The Swamp." On the offensive side of the football the Gators relied on an efficient rushing attack spear-headed by true freshmen running back Jaden Baugh. Baugh, who had been used sparingly in the first 2 weeks had a coming out party, rushing for 78 yards on 15 carries and an impressive 4 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the football the Gators continued their impressive play, forcing Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed into tossing 4 first half interceptions, allowing the Florida offense to work with a short field and jump out to a 31-3 halftime lead. "A great way to kick-off conference play for sure," said coach McDonagh at the post-game press conference. "We just need to build off this win and build some momentum as we get into the thick of conference play." The Gators now turn their attention to the Bulldogs of Mississippi State and a tough early season road test in the always formidable Starkvegas.
