A great game by Utah. We had a storm delay hahaha. Utah St hung around but Utah was able to run the ball and called some really good plays. Zero turnovers for Utah St kept it close but in the end dropped balls and no rushing offense was the difference. GG Jason. GL!!
Cam Rising threw for 286 yards and a pair of scores, and Utah's defense held Utah State to just 195 yards of total offense as the Utes won the Battle of the Brothers 28-16 on Wednesday night.
Utah scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, the last of which came just before halftime. The score came after a lengthy weather delay, and put Utah up 21-7.
Utah State came away with two interceptions from that point, as well as getting a big stop on fourth down, to stay within striking distance. But it was a 70-yard bomb from Rising to Damien Alford that would give the Utes breathing room and secure the victory.
Utah's defensive line showed up as well. They racked up four sacks and held Utah State to minus-10 yards on the day.
"Coach Buckeye and his boys gave us a fight," Coach JasonUK would say after the game. "They were able to contain our running game in the second half and baited us into a couple of bad throws. Thankfully we made enough big plays down the stretch to get the win."
