Louisville came into this game with high momentum after their huge win against a well-coached Notre Dame team. SMU came into this game not caring about ranking they wanted to prove they could hang with the big dawgs and that's what they did to start the game with their offense and defense showing out to gain them a 3-0 lead at the end of the first. Louisville would not fade away after their running back Isacc brown scored a receiving touchdown to make it 7-3. After a sack, Louisville would get back and run the ball with running back Isacc brown to extend the lead 14-3. SMU would fade away as they take their running back and punch it in the make the score 14-10. After another Stop Louisville would get the ball and once again off of the back of their star running back Issac brown would punch it in to make the score 21-10. As SMU punted and Louisville was looking to score before half SMU's defense came up big with a red zone int before half to keep the Louisville lead to two possessions. Louisville would get the ball after half and with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd they would punch it in for issac brown 3 rushing scores of the day. Coach Mjkemp was caught up after the game and he was able to give some insight into why his team has had success over the past couple of games, His answer was "These guys are a close group of young adults who love the game of football they are working hard in the weight room, the film room and on the field, I couldn't have a better group of young men to coach and be by my side. After a couple of punts back and forth a couple of turnovers and a score between both teams Louisville would walk away with a 45-17 win over the SMU Mustangs.
