Aggies Take Down Missouri
Article By: Debbie Downer: Aggies Take Down Missouri, But Let’s Not Celebrate Yet
College Station, TX – Well, well, well. Look who’s suddenly on a winning streak. The Aggies handled business at home, taking down Missouri 35-21 in front of the 12th Man. But before we go planning the parade route, let’s take a step back.
Sure, the Aggies dominated on the ground, piling up 277 rushing yards like it was 1945 again. Rueben Owens put on a show, running for 234 yards and four touchdowns, carrying the offense like a man on a mission. Meanwhile, Marcel Reed could’ve taken a nap out there—he attempted just nine passes, completing six for 75 yards. A&M didn’t need him to do much, and that’s probably for the best.
The defense? Eh. They had their moments, forcing three turnovers—all interceptions—and even took one to the house to create some breathing room. But let’s be honest, Missouri isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. The Tigers came into this one 1-3 and still managed to put up 21 points, staying within reach until late. The Aggies got just enough stops to keep things from getting interesting, but don’t let the score fool you—this was no defensive clinic.
So yeah, a win is a win. The Aggies improve to 4-2 and 2-1 in conference play. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Missouri is a struggling team, and A&M just did what they should do at home in a night game. If this team wants to be taken seriously, they’ll have to prove it against better competition.
Will they? History says otherwise. But I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
