San Jose State came out to play in the first quarter. Opening drive saw a 69 yard run by Chalk to open the scoring. On their next possesion, Bates had a 60 yard run to make it 14-0. However, it looked like Chalk IV was injured after just touching the ball 3 times. SJSU had to switch game plan, but was still able to move down the field to score. They took a 28-13 lead into halftime. Then momentum changed and Colorado State scored the next 25 points to go up 38-28. A late touchdown and a failed onside kick allowed the Rams to be victorious 38-35. "We had the lead and moved the ball well, but Chalk IV being out really hurt us. Hopefully he will be back to full strength in the next game. Hats off to the Rams and their defense in the 2nd half. They came out to play and shut us down," commented Coach Taruncheel.
