The Sam Houston Bearkats have now achieved an impressive 11-0 record on the season after a dominant 24-7 win on the road against FIU. The team’s success was driven by a standout performance from running back Jay Ducker, as well as a defense that once again showed its strength in limiting UTEP’s offense.
While Coach Bell is obviously pleased with his team’s perfect record, he remains unwavering in his message: "We have a lot more work to do." Bell’s focus stays on continued improvement as the Bearkats move through the season with their sights set on bigger goals. However, he also took the opportunity to voice his frustration over his team’s lack of recognition, especially from the College Football Playoff committee.
The Bearkats continue to be snubbed in the rankings, and Coach Bell didn't hold back in calling out the situation. He specifically mentioned the CFP committee chairman and Utah’s head coach, who have both failed to give Sam Houston the respect they believe they’ve earned. “We’re 11-0, and we keep hearing how we’re not worthy of being ranked,” Bell said, clearly frustrated. “The people who are supposed to be giving us that recognition are the ones who continue to downplay our success.”
Despite the lack of acknowledgment, the Bearkats are clearly motivated, using the media and the committee’s disregard as fuel to push them further. The road ahead is still challenging, but with a team this driven and a coach this focused, Sam Houston seems poised to prove all doubters wrong.
