Starkville, MS – The Arkansas Razorbacks started fast and held strong, defeating the Mississippi State Bulldogs 31-14 in a long-standing SEC rivalry matchup.
Arkansas wasted no time making an impact, as Jaquin Jackson broke multiple tackles on an 82-yard touchdown run with 5:05 left in the first quarter. After a quick three-and-out by Mississippi State, Jordan Anthony electrified the crowd with an 88-yard punt return touchdown, putting the Razorbacks up 14-0.
The Bulldogs responded immediately when quarterback Blake Shapen connected with Jordan Mosley on an 81-yard touchdown pass, cutting the lead to 14-7. However, Arkansas answered back with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Taylen Green to Andrew Armstrong. The Razorbacks closed out a dominant first quarter when Isaiah TeSlaa hauled in a 35-yard touchdown from Green with just 51 seconds left, giving Arkansas a commanding 28-7 lead.
The second quarter saw more dominance from the Razorbacks, as running back Rodney Hill capped off a grueling 15-play, six-minute drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Mississippi State found the end zone before halftime, as Shapen hit Creed Whittemore for an eight-yard score with 51 seconds left, bringing the score to 31-14 at the break.
The second half turned into a defensive battle, with neither team able to gain much momentum. The only points came in the fourth quarter when Arkansas kicker Matthew Shipley nailed a field goal to extend the lead to 31-14, sealing the victory for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas controlled the game from the start and never let up, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive resilience. With this win, the Razorbacks gain momentum as they look ahead to the rest of the season, while Mississippi State will regroup and prepare for their next challenge.
