Wake Takes W in Bowling Green
Article By: The Demon Deacons got the season started with a hard fought win over the Bowling Green Falcons, 38-14.
The game started slow as both teams would try to feel each other out to start but a steady running game by Wake Forest would eventually pull things out.
Demond Claiborne would pace the offense with 152 yards on the ground on 32 carries and a score.
Quarterback Hank Bachmeier would be steady but unspectacular on the day going 9/12 151 yards and 2 tds.
Here he hits wide out Taylor Morin for a key touchdown on 4th & 1.
Of course the offense was truly led by the offensive line as they racked up 17 pancake blocks.
The defense was opportunistic with a secondary stepping up with Evan Slocum and Capone Blue grabbing two interceptions each.
Special teams did a solid job 1/1 on field goals with a long of 45. And 2 punts inside the 20. Which both helped keep the Falcons at bay.
“It’s a solid start to the season, we did what we needed to do and didn’t get rattled early when things went a little sideways for us. We stayed the course and just played fundamental ball. Same goes for Bowling Green. Coach LBo will have them boys locked in going forward. Stick to their game plan and have a good season.”
Bowling Green Falls to Powerhouse Wake
Article By: Bowling Green full of optimism took on the demon deacons at home . Both teams got off to a relatively slow start with Bowling green controlling the ball on offense with a heavy run game. As the game progressed though the lack of defense from Bowling Green would play a factor. WF took the lead and forced Bowling green to go away from what was working with the run and threw multiple interceptions that allowed wake to cruise to a comfortable win on the road.
