Clemson, led by Coach ElJefe, secured a hard-fought 35-21 win over Coach SuddenBlues and the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, but it was far from the blowout many expected. Instead, it was a bruising ground-and-pound battle, and Phil Mafah was the undisputed star of the show.
Mafah put together another historic performance, carrying the Tigers on his back with an astounding 279 rushing yards on 33 carries, finding the end zone four times. No matter what Louisiana threw at him, he found a way through—or simply ran over—defenders, ripping off big runs all day long. His dominance extended to the passing game as well, where he led Clemson in receiving with two catches for 43 yards, including a 32-yard reception.
While Mafah stole the spotlight, quarterback Cade Klubnik struggled to get into a rhythm. He completed just 9 passes for 172 yards, failing to find consistency through the air. However, with Mafah bulldozing his way to chunk plays, Clemson didnt need much from the passing attack.
On the other side, Louisiana fought hard, keeping the game within reach, but they had no answer for Mafahs relentless rushing attack. Every time they seemed to gain momentum, Clemsons star running back responded with another punishing run to extend drives and drain the clock.
In the end, Clemson didnt dominate the way they might have hoped, but behind Mafahs monster day, they secured a solid victory, keeping their season rolling in the right direction. Coach ElJefe and his squad will look to clean things up in the passing game, but one thing is clear—as long as Phil Mafah is in the backfield, Clemson is a force to be reckoned with.
