The Miami Hurricanes would welcome the Alabama Crimson Tide in this Week 12 matchup. Miami would look to move to 2-2 on their OOC schedule. The Canes would strike first in the first quarter as Cam Ward would hit Elijah Arroyo on a 12 yard TD pass. The Miami defense would play tough all game but especially in the first half as they would not allow Alabama to cross the 50 yard line. The Canes looked to have another touchdown from Ward to Arroyo but the pass would be intercepted by the Alabama corner to stop that drive. "I thought we had a 14-0 lead there," said Coach Dealer, "we had a great look, but the ball was slightly underthrown and it cost us." Miami would score on their next possesion though. This time Damien Martinez would run it in from 5 yards out to go up 14-0. Miami would tack on a field goal as time would expire to go up 17-0 at the half. "We played a great first half," said Dealer, "I really told the team we just needed to keep that same aggression in the second half and we would walk away with a W."
In the second half both teams would only have the ball for two possesions. Alabama would use a 5 minute drive to go down and cut the Canes lead to 17-7. Miami would have to punt after a decent drive that would go into the 4th quarter. Alabama would again drive down inside the 20 yard line but this time would miss the field goal off the goal post. The Canes would then be able to get a couple first downs to run out the clock.
"That second half was very quick. To only have the ball twice and the second time the game ended. I'm glad we got the W and hopefully we can continue to play well going forward," said Dealer.
It was a game of two different halves for the Tide. Miami controlled the clock and scoreboard in the first half going up 17-0. This looked to be another route for the Tide but they showed signs of life in the second half. Bama was able to put together a 5 minute drive and add a TD on a Milroe 1 yard run. Bama was able to get the ball back and move the ball effectively down the field and found itself with a 4th and 5 from the 22 yard line. The angle proved to be too much as the kick hit the goal post and was no good.
Miami would institute another long drawn out drive and kept the ball away from the surging Bama offense and ending the game with Miami victorious 17-7
