The Florida Atlantic Owls picked up a big road win 34-6 to open their season alongside the game being a conference contest. The defense had a very impressive start to the year allowing zero points with Army's only points of the afternoon coming by way of a pick six. Offensively HB CJ Campbell shined with 160 on the ground to go along with 2 total touchdowns. Having control most of the game QB Cam Fancher managed it well however a disappointing pass in the third led to his first interception of the year. Overall a strong first showing to start the year but need to clean some things up to be our best version.
Florida Atlantic dominated both sides of the ball in a convincing performance over Army. QB Cam Fancher was highly efficient, completing 15 of 21 passes for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns, though he did throw one interception. His top targets included Wyatt Sullivan (94 yards) and Milan Tucker and CJ Campbell Jr., who each caught a TD pass.
On the ground, CJ Campbell Jr. led the rushing attack with 160 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while Fancher added a rushing score of his own. The offense racked up 413 total yards and committed zero drops in the passing game.
Defensively, FAU was aggressive and opportunistic, forcing two interceptions and recording 12 tackles for loss. Jackson Ambush led with 6 tackles and a pick, while Jarvis Johnson added a sack. The unit held Army to just 108 total yards and no touchdowns.
Army struggled throughout the game. Quarterback Bryson Daily threw two interceptions and was held to just 17 passing yards. The ground game, their usual strength, was stifled — Daily was their leading rusher with only 63 yards on 16 carries. The Black Knights lost two fumbles and mustered just 91 rushing yards on 27 attempts.
Defensively, Kalib Fortner was a bright spot with 11 tackles and 2 pass deflections, and Army did manage to notch three sacks, but they couldn't slow down FAU’s balanced offense.
Special teams also favored FAU, as kicker Morgan Suarez was perfect, hitting both field goal attempts (including a 53-yarder) and all extra points. Army had no field goal attempts and minimal return game impact.
Final Takeaway: Florida Atlantic delivered a complete game with strong play from its quarterback, running back, and defense. Army, meanwhile, was overwhelmed from the start and failed to find rhythm on offense or create game-changing plays on defense or special teams.
