After that dramatic loss to Iowa State Sam Houston looked to bounce back against UTEP.
Welp that didn’t happen as the Bearkats lose 42-35 at home.
The game started out nice as the Bearkats had a 14-7 lead and had 2 interceptions on defense but then it went down hill in the 2nd quarter by the time it hit the 3rd they were down 35-14 after a fumble returned for a td and a pick six. Hunter Watson threw 3 interceptions but also 4 tds.
The defense had those two interceptions and only gave up 28 points but it wasn’t enough they couldn’t get enough stops down the stretch.
There was a potential comeback the Bearkats scored twice to cut it to now 42-28 they got a onside kick and drove down to be down by 7 on the next onside attempt the ball went 8 yards and died in the grass and illegal touching was called thus ending the game “They gave great effort” Coach Vic said “It just wasn’t enough”
