In a high-octane offensive showcase that had fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle, the South Florida Bulls extended their undefeated season with a thrilling 53–47 road victory over the Memphis Tigers on Thursday night.
The win moves the Bulls to a perfect record, solidifying their position as one of the nation’s most electrifying and resilient teams. Despite a hostile crowd at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium and a furious fourth-quarter rally from Memphis, USF maintained its composure and delivered clutch plays when it mattered most.
Offensive Fireworks
Quarterback Malik Jenkins led the charge for South Florida, throwing for 342 yards and four touchdowns, including a crucial 67-yard strike to wide receiver Darius Owens early in the fourth quarter that gave the Bulls some breathing room. Running back Keon Daniels added 138 rushing yards and two scores, consistently punishing the Memphis defense and keeping drives alive.
"We knew it was going to be a shootout," Jenkins said postgame. "But we trust each other. We’ve been in tough spots before, and we just keep believing."
Memphis countered with a dominant offensive performance of their own, led by quarterback Tyler Reese, who threw for 398 yards and five touchdowns. Wide receiver Jalen Rivers was nearly unstoppable, hauling in 10 catches for 181 yards and two scores. The Tigers rallied from a 17-point third-quarter deficit to tie the game at 47 with just under four minutes remaining.
Game-Winning Drive
With the game knotted late, South Florida orchestrated a methodical, clock-chewing drive that ended with Daniels plunging into the end zone from three yards out for the go-ahead score. Memphis had one final possession, but the Bulls’ defense came up with a game-sealing interception by senior safety Marcus Langston.
"We bend, but we don’t break," Langston said. "That’s our identity on defense. We knew someone had to make a play, and I’m glad it was me tonight."
Statement Win
The Bulls’ 53–47 win marks their most significant road victory of the season and sends a clear message to the rest of the conference — and possibly the nation — that they are legitimate contenders. Under head coach J.T. Morris, USF has found a new identity: fast, physical, and fearless.
"This is a championship-type win," Morris said. "Memphis is a great team, especially at home. For our guys to come in here and respond like that — that’s special."
