Cougars Dominate Bulldogs in Thursday Night Showdown
Pullman, WA — The Washington State Cougars stayed perfect on the season with a dominant 44-14 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs on Thursday night. The electric atmosphere at Gesa Field energized the Cougars early, as they raced out to a commanding lead and never looked back.
Running back Joyner opened the scoring with a bruising 4-yard touchdown run to ignite the home crowd. Quarterback Mateer followed with a strong performance through the air, connecting on a 58-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Mathers and another to Hutson, helping the Cougars rack up 38 first-half points.
Fresno State managed a single touchdown in the second quarter, but Washington State’s defense kept the Bulldogs in check the rest of the way. The Cougar defense forced four turnovers—three interceptions and one fumble recovery—to help secure the blowout.
