NDL: S32W8 - Duke (10) at Florida State (34)

Seminoles Overpower Blue Devils

Article By: NarcanMan

The Florida State Seminoles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 34–10 win over the Duke Blue Devils in a game defined by dominance in the trenches and special teams.

Florida State opened the game with a commanding 14-point first quarter, following it up with 13 more in the second to take a 27–0 lead into halftime. The Seminoles added another touchdown in the third quarter before easing off the gas, allowing Duke to score 10 late points that only slightly narrowed the margin.

The Seminoles outgained the Blue Devils 380 to 237 in total offense, led by a punishing ground game that racked up 194 rushing yards. On third down, Florida State was efficient, converting five of eight attempts, while Duke struggled mightily with just one conversion on seven tries.

Special teams were a major difference-maker. Florida State gained 115 yards on punt returns and another 42 on kick returns, boosting their total yardage to 537. Duke, by contrast, had no return yardage and struggled to flip field position.

The Blue Devils couldn’t get anything going in the first half, and their lone touchdown came in the final quarter, long after the game had been decided. They also committed the only turnover of the game, a costly interception that helped Florida State keep momentum.

Despite the loss, the Blue Devils were penalty-free, as were the Seminoles, in what was a cleanly played game. But the difference in execution, physicality, and time of possession—Florida State nearly doubling Duke’s—made this a one-sided affair from start to finish.

With this victory, the Seminoles continue to solidify their reputation as a force to be reckoned with, while the Blue Devils are left searching for answers after another slow offensive start.
