Northwestern wins in dramatic fashion

Article By: TuddyRoosevelt

In a heart-stopping, action-packed overtime thriller, Northwestern Wildcats clawed their way to victory against Wisconsin on their home turf, extending their undefeated streak to 7-0. Running back Joseph Himon powered the ground game with 159 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, while Cam Porter, the player of the game, added 65 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries.

Defensively, senior captain and middle linebacker Xander Mueller anchored the team with seven tackles, two for a loss, and a crucial sack. Northwestern initially surged ahead, establishing a 21-7 lead, but Wisconsin battled back to tie the game, setting the stage for a dramatic fourth quarter.

Wisconsin seized the lead, but Northwestern quarterback Mike Wright rose to the occasion, leading a game-tying drive with two minutes remaining. A late-game interception put Northwestern in a prime position to win, but a mismanaged timeout situation forced them into overtime. Cam Porter's explosive 25-yard touchdown run on the first play of overtime, followed by a game-ending sack by the Northwestern defense, sealed the 35-28 victory. Northwestern, now 7-0, will host Iowa before hosting Purdue next.
