If you looked at the box score for the Monarchs, you’d think it was nothing special. The usual formula of Roche putting up 300+ yards of total offense, and getting into the end zone 3 times was employed again on the road vs Texas St. But the Bobcats dished it out just as well, and pounded the ball at will, with running back Ismail Mahdi racking up 250yds on the ground alone. The game continued to be tight as both teams made a handful of mistakes down the stretch. ODU managed to push their nose in front after a gutsy call within field goal range netted a touchdown pass with 8 seconds remaining to seal a 49-45 victory and move to 3-0.
