Tied at 28 with eight seconds to play, Texas A&M was looking for one last shot — a quick sideline throw to stop the clock and maybe set up a Hail Mary or long field goal attempt. But what they got was another nightmare ending.
Quarterback Reed fired toward the sideline on a deep comeback route, but the throw was late — and Auburn was ready. The Tigers jumped the route, snagged the interception, and took it 58 yards the other way as the clock hit zero. A stunning pick-six to end the game and hand Auburn a 34–28 win.
It was Reed’s only interception of the night — but it was devastating.
For the Aggies, it marks their sixth straight regular season loss, and yet another soul-crushing collapse in the closing seconds. They were in it. They had a chance. And once again, it slipped away at the worst possible time.
As Auburn celebrated, the frustration in the stands was loud and pointed — chants calling for the coach’s job filled the air.
This wasn’t a blowout. It wasn’t a mismatch. But it ended just the same: with heartbreak, and another loss the Aggies won’t soon forget.
