(Birmingham, AL) - The Charlotte 49ers are bowl bound! One last S32 hurrah secured for Charlottes Seniors, Transfers, and possibly, Head Coach iCMC after another convincing 38 - 7 win at UAB. This leaves them at an impressive 6-2 AAC record putting them in 3rd place in the conference. Much to the shock of most preseason polls and predictions. And a final regular season record of 8 - 4.
Charlotte kept the ball on the ground for most of the game as a breakout game from backup running back Henry Rutledge emerged. After starting RB Terron Kellman received 20 touches and found 90 of offense the ball was shared with Rutledge who on just 6 touches ran for 84 yards. One of those touches being a 42 Yard TD dash.
On defense, LB Ositadinma Ekwonu forced a fumble while the Dragon were in the red zone and the ball was scooped by DE Malik Puryear for an 80 yard return to the house.
After an exciting first year in the NDL, head coach iCMC looks forward to seeing where his team is placed for their bowl matchup. Its not about whether or not we win our bowl game. Its about giving our senior guys and those looking to transfer one last special game as teammates and as Charlotte 49ers. Said coach iCMC in the post game presser. When asked if this Charlottes bowl game would also be Coach iCMCs as 49er he declined to comment. My focus for now is the bowl game. Im not concerned about anything else until the boys bring home one more S32 win.
