Colorado traveled to SEC country to open up the new season.
A slow start getting sacked twice on the first drive with Kentucky responding with a methodical touchdown drive gaining momentum and a 7-0 lead.
Sanders led the Buffs right back down the field capping off the scoring drive with a 43 yard touchdown pass to Hood out of the backfield on a wheel route.
Kentucky added their second touchdown off a shanked punt that set them in great field position and gave them a 14-7 lead, but that would be all that they would get.
Colorado bounced back tying the game on a pass to Wester to tie the game. But where the momentum fully turned was a 3rd and 3 with just under 2 minutes left, Silmon-Craig jumped a flat pass and returned it for a touchdown giving the Buffaloes a lead. And on the very next Kentucky play, Silmon-Craig intercepted another pass returning it to the 10 setting up Hood to catch a pass on 4th down from the 2 yard line to give Colorado a 28-14 lead heading into the half.
Sanders with a remarkable first half completing 21 of 24 passes for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns.
A big 4th down stop at midfield coming out of the half set Colorado up with a chance for a 3 score lead. Sanders led the team down the field and Hood capped it off with a run from the 1.
Kentucky nearing do or die time threw another interception and Colorado put the nail in the coffin on a 3rd and short RPO that Travis Hunter took for 50 yards and a score.
A couple late field goals gave the Buffaloes a 48-14 win.
Sanders finished 26-29 for 352 yards and 4 touchdowns. Hood had 25 total touches for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. No Sanders spread the wealth as no pass catcher cracker 100 yards receiving and 4 different receivers had 60 plus yards.
