Sam Houston gets a tough hard fought victory in annual coach rivalry game.
The score was 35-21 but that didn’t tell the whole story as SHSU had to battle being down 21-10 in the 3rd. After that moment the bearkats scored 25 unanswered points to win the game.
This is the annual game scheduled between Coach Vic and Coach Wobbles. They make sure they clear a week to play each other as the rivalry continues and goes back to thier days in another LG.
Running back Malik Sherrod left his mark on the game after the first quarter as he battled a minor ankle injury to begin the game but after that he ripped up the bearkats defense totaling 128 yards rushing 29 receiving and threw a pass for a yard. He was the bell cow that set the tone for thier offense. Deon Clark also had a pick six that brought the lead to 7-3 early.
Hunter Watson despite throwing that pick six early battled back to throw two tds and run for one in the second half as a part of those 25 unanswered points John gentry added 103 total yards and Ife Adeyi had 6 catches for 90 yards and a TD.
