The Cyclones wrapped up their season tonight, and sent the seniors out in fine fashion.
RB Jaylon Jackson, and WRs Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins would all be wearing the Cyclones uniform for the final time in the Alamo Bowl, and they put on a show from the very start.
The 2nd play from scrimmage would see Higgins take short pass from Becht and race and juke past the Beavers defense for a 75 score, that was nearly all courtesy of his legs. The very next ISU offensive possession would then see WR Noel show of his speed, splitting the Oregon State for a 32 yard reception in the endzone and 14-0 lead.
The Beavers would bite back quickly though, with a FG, and then jumping a late throw from Becht for a pick 6.
But the following Cyclones possession would see Noel left in single coverage while on a corner route to the far side of the field, and 71 yards later he was in the endzone for the 2nd time on the night. Noel would then add another TD early in the 2nd quarter, as he shed his defender with a zig route and scored from 19 yards out making it 28-17 Cyclones.
RB Jackson would get into the act late in the 2nd quarter, as he'd had a few good carrier already in the game, but not sniffed the endzone. This changed with just under 2 minutes left to play in the half, as he took a middle screen pass 60 yards, leaving literal scorch marks on the field from his cleats.
The speedy RB would have one more moment in the spotlight early in the 3rd quarter, as the Cyclones defense forced a punt in the opening minutes of the half, but then get pinned back at their 12 by the Beavers special teams.
This didn't bother Jackson in the least, as he took the handoff and ran to his left, spun around a defender on the edge and went untouched 88 yards for his last score as a Cyclone.
The finishing touch would come from Noel, who would be the POTG with his 4 touchdowns, as he took a jet sweep to the house from 28 yards out early in the 4th to wrap up the scoring and his career for Iowa State.
The 3 seniors had 14 offensive touches, racked up 474 of yards, and all 7 of the Iowa State touchdowns on the night.
