NDL: S33W3 - Navy (14) at Tulsa (34)
Navy Sunk
Article By: Tulsa controlled the game from start to finish, defeating Navy 34–14 behind a punishing ground game and opportunistic defense. The Golden Hurricane put up 31 points in the first half and cruised after intermission, while Navy’s offense sputtered badly down the stretch.
The Midshipmen finished with just 103 yards of total offense and only six first downs. Their normally run-heavy attack was completely shut down, producing -24 rushing yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Blake Horvath was under constant pressure, rushing for -41 yards on eight attempts while completing 8 of 16 passes for 127 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Navy’s lone bright spot on offense was wideout Nathan Kent, who hauled in 4 catches for 81 yards and a 20-yard touchdown. But drops were costly — the team was charged with three, including one each from Kent, Cody Howard, and Casey Smith. On the ground, Alex Tecza led Navy with just 12 yards on five carries.
Special teams provided little relief. Punter Ron Watson was busy, booting 14 punts for just 185 yards (a net of 108), while return man TK Hodges managed 24 total yards between kicks and punts.
Defensively, Navy battled hard despite the offensive struggles. Job Grant paced the unit with 10 tackles, while Griffen Willis (9), Kush’i Abraham (8), and Luke Pirris (7) added steady contributions. Up front, Landon Robinson (3 TFL, 0.5 sack) and Andrew Duhart (0.5 sack) helped slow Tulsa in the second half, but the early hole was too deep.
Tulsa racked up 171 rushing yards and won the turnover battle 3–1, which proved decisive. Navy never reached the red zone and was 0-for-9 on third and fourth down conversions, highlighting a night of offensive futility.
After halftime, Tulsa simply managed the clock, adding a fourth-quarter field goal to seal a 20-point victory.
