The Wildcats struck first in OT, punching in a touchdown to grab the lead. Auburn had its chance to answer, but on 4th down the Tigers’ potential game-saving pass slipped through the receiver’s hands, sealing the win for Northwestern.
It was a game of swings throughout regulation. Northwestern’s 14-point second quarter gave them the edge at halftime, but Auburn kept clawing back behind a potent passing attack that piled up 335 yards through the air. The Tigers actually outgained the Wildcats overall (378–326 in total offense).
