NDL: S33W3 - Missouri (24) at Penn State (31)

Nittany Lions Roar Late, Down Tigers

Article By: BigBrian

Coach BigBrian hoped that getting two home wins while making mistakes along the way built his teams confidence before heading to the Nittany Lions Den that is Penn State. It looked that way at first. The defense gets a 3 and out, and then the punt returner, Daniel Blood, breaks a tackle and is off to the races for a 78-yard touchdown. Could not have dreamed of a better start. Then the back-and-forth scoring goes on throughout the first half, ending up tied at 24.

The raucous crowd then gets to the Missouri Tigers. Their 3rd quarter drive ends with a missed field goal. Then Penn State gets their first 7-point lead of the game early in the 4th quarter. Now feeling the pressure to respond, Beau Pribula, the transfer from Penn State now leading his own team, throws 2 interceptions in consecutive drives. The Mizzou defense keeps giving the team hope by not allowing any more points (a missed field goal and 2 punts.) But no luck... all 3 phases of the Nittany Lions defense stepped up in the 4th, preserving the 31-24 victory.

What's next? Missouri, now 2-1 hopes to finish their nonconference schedule with a win when they welcome the Missouri State Bears to FBS football in The Show Me State. And don't forget about the pressure cooker that is the SEC.

Singleton held to 94 yards rushing, but team holds on for the victory!
