NDL: S29W2 - Tulsa (42) at Jacksonville State (20)

Jacksonville State Amateur Hour

Article By: Block M

It started well.

JSU WR Dallan Wright took the opening kickoff 101 yards to start the game with a bang and give JSU a 7-0 lead.

Within two minutes however the game was tied and the errors started to mount.

Missed coverages, missed assignments, dropped passes, overthrown passes, trouble getting play calls in...Jacksonville State displayed it all. However, what really put them behind was interceptions thrown by QB Zion Turner that allowed Tulsa to dominate the second quarter.

Jacksonville State grabbed two interceptions of their own and got within one at 21-20 late in the second but Tulsa would march down the field in just over half a minute to extend the lead to 28-20 at the break.

The second half saw more interceptions and more inability to stop the run as Tulsa marched their way to just under 600 yards of total offense.

Jacksonville State falls to 1-1 on the season with the Ball State Cardinals. The Gamecocks have a lot of regrouping to do before then.

Anthony Watkins had over 200+ yards on the day and a touchdown early in the 3rd.

All-around receiver Kamdyn Benjamin had another great day, hauling in 7 catches for 150 yards and a score. 4 Tulsa receivers caught a TD, with WRs Jack Wright, Jeremiah Ballard, and TE Ethan Hall all getting into the endzone.
